An old man with a dog stumbled upon the body in the
spring when the pooch pulled him off the well-used trail they were taking. The
autopsy suggested the boy had died midwinter. And that coincided with the
missing persons report his family had filed. The body had been worried at by a
few animals, probably once the snow started to melt. The missing kitchen knife
was underneath the body, dried, dark blood on the edge. There was no evidence
of kidnapping or an attacker and the boy had a history of depression. The
police concluded it was a suicide.
