She was on the lam. She couldn’t stay. No one would understand what happened.
Her boyfriend had come home drunk and violent, which had never happened before. He tried to attack her and she defended herself, not intending to kill him. But no one would believe her. They would hold her past against her. So she ran.
They caught her outside of Reno. After sitting for what felt like forever, she almost decided to make a run for it. But when the officer returned from the patrol car, he told her the neighbor had seen it and helped clear her.
