“It won’t start. It’s too cold and the engine’s been
burned out by trying to fight the ice,” Shek said.
The worried murmuring of the rest of the team echoed
through her helmet. She had a sinking feeling in her stomach. Looking around,
she could see her dread reflected in the eyes of her teammates.
Everyone looked to Sarah. She held her elbow in one hand
and rubbed her faceplate with the other.
“We need to keep moving. Let’s spread the gear around and
if we huff, hopefully we can make it before dark.”
“There’s no way we’ll make it.”
