100 Words a Day 963

When the stars vanished from the sky it sent the scientific community abuzz. While the many scientists of the world endlessly debated the cause for the sudden disappearance, the few men and women who were keepers of humanity’s primordial knowledge shuddered. To them, it had represented a great sleeping beast that would consume all of creation upon awakening. The first sign of its coming, ancient man believed, was the vanishing of its bright stars from the night sky.
